The new movie by Bruce Weber, exclusively for DEDON
DEDON, the world’s premier outdoor furniture brand, is pleased to present ‘Barefooting around the World’, an exclusive new film written and directed by legendary American photographer Bruce Weber. Shot near Weber’s home on Montauk in the golden light of late summer, ‘Barefooting’ features an array of longtime friends and favored collaborators, supermodel Elaine Irwin and It girl Dree Hemingway among them.
A deeply personal film, one that reflects the special bond between Weber and DEDON founder Bobby Dekeyser, ‘Barefooting’ evokes a set of themes — friendship, family, the quest for adventure, the power and beauty of life lived outdoors — that both men cherish. Weber dedicated himself intensively to the project, writing the narration, editing, even commissioning an original score by Chet Baker arranger John Leftwich.
‘Barefooting’ is set on and around a dreamlike, floating ‘sea house’ specially created by art-director Stefan Beckman. Decorated in a laid-back, luxuriously Bohemian style and furnished with DEDON’s unique, hand-woven, weather-resistant designs, the house awakens our deepest fantasies of a life lived near the sea, lulled by its lazy rhythms, kissed by its gentle breezes, laughing and lounging under its endless blue skies.
In addition to Irwin, a Weber favorite for 20 years, and Hemingway, whose mother’s modeling career also began with Weber, the ‘Barefooting’ cast includes British actor/model Paul Sculfor and American model/activist Kyleigh Kuhn, who balances Weber shoots for Italian Vogue with school building in Afghanistan. Creative Direction for the film was supplied by Alex Wiederin of Buero New York.
